Camp is run by members of the Sandhills Optimist Club and coaches for the Sandhills Select Travel Baseball Program.
Dates: Sunday afternoons in February (1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd)
Location: Memorial Field in Southern Pines: A,B & C Fields
Times: 2-4 pm
Cost: $85.00 for 4 session
For ages 6 – 12. Please register before Friday Jan. 30th
About Youth Baseball
The Sandhills Optimist Club offers three leagues for our youth baseball program.
Cost = $90
League games will begin on Monday, March 30th 2026. Registration runs from Jan. 15th 2026 to Feb. 27th 2026 or until league is full. Child age is as of April 30th, 2026.
Rookie League 6-8 year olds
Games are M & W nights, game times are 5:45pm & 7pm
Aberdeen @ Colonial Heights and in Southern Pines @ the Memorial Field Complex
Total number of players 144
Minor League 9 & 10 year olds
Games are Tu & Th nights, game times are 5:45pm & 7:15pm
Pinehurst @ Cannon Park and in Southern Pines @ the Memorial Field Complex
Total Number of players 110
Major League 11 & 12 year olds
Games played on Monday & Wednesday nights, game times are 6pm & 7:30pm
Games played in Southern Pines @ Memorial Park
Total Number of players 66
Evaluation day is Saturday, February 28th, 2026 – Times for each age group
are:
8 year olds – 8:30am to 10am
6-7 year olds – 10am to 11:30am
10 year olds – 12pm to 1:30pm
9 year olds – 1:30 pm to 3pm
* No evaluation for the 11/12 year old league is scheduled at this time
All evaluations will be held at Memorial Park in Southern Pines.
Baseball Drafts will be held the week of March 1st 2026.
