Who We Are


What is an Optimist Club
An Optimist Club is a voluntary organization of civic minded men and women banded together in the modern tradition for progressive thought and action in community service. Membership is by invitation only. A member fulfills his/her role by attendance at meetings, participation in projects, serving on club committees and boards, assisting in service projects and by inviting others to join in the club’s purposes. The Optimist Club is an affiliate of Optimist International.

What Optimist Clubs Do
Optimist Clubs are dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids” and do their part through community service programs. Since each Club is autonomous and run by members in their community, Optimists have the unique flexibility to serve the youth of their area in any way they see fit. Optimist Clubs see a need in their community and react to it.

Mission
Statement

The Sandhills Optimist Club is a Non-Profit independent organization that promotes youth sports by concentrating on athletic development while providing a competitive atmosphere for youth in a team sport setting.

Values

The Sandhills Optimist values will teach fundamentals of the game while promoting sportsmanship, respect for all players, coaches, officials & fans as we emphasize:

  • Having Fun
  • Showing Sportsmanship in winning and losing
  • Teamwork
  • Learning the fundamentals of the game (age & skill appropriate)
  • Promote healthy competition
